ABOUT US
The objectives of the Chamber are to:
promote and protect trade, commerce, professional activites, transport and industry and the general welfare and properity of Newcastle.
promote, assist and encourage the development and extension of all forms of civic and economic activity in Newcastle.
represent effectively the opinion of businessmen and professional men on civic, commercial, economic and social subjects.
consider any civic, commercial, economic or social matters or questions of governmental policy or of general public importance.
express its opinion on any such matters or questions and to take such action with regard thereto as it may deem desirable.
make representations to, or negotiate with, any government, provincial or local authority or official for the purpose of furthering the objects of the Chamber.
promote, draft or assist in promoting or drafting any Bill or Ordinance calculated to further the objects of the Chamber for presentation to Parliament or to any other Legislative Authority and to assist in prodcuring the enactment, promulgation and enforcement of relative legislation.
make representations to any Minister, any Government or Public Authority or Service relative to the necessity for the enactment, issue, amendement, repeal or enforcement of new or existing Legislation, Regulations or Bylaws, incidental to the objects of the Chamber.
enter into arrangements for co-operation, association and/or affiliation with any other Chamber of Commerce, Association, Institution or any other body which had objects the same as or similar to those of this Chamber.
furnish facilities for the settlement or mercantile disputes by arbitration.
do, whether within or without the Province of Kwazul-Natal, all such things as may be conducive or incidental to the attainment of these objects or any one of them.
